My dogs

My current and upcoming litters. Listings are updated the moment a puppy's status changes — a puppy marked "available" really is available today.

Portraits in progress. I draw each puppy in line once its colouring settles, around week three — the thumbnails below are generic sketches, standing in until each one gets its own portrait.

Every other detail — colour, sex, date of birth, price, vaccinations — is accurate.

Reservation

How to reserve a basenji.

I don't work on a first-come, first-served basis. After we talk — by email, phone or a visit — I add your family to the litter that suits you.

Matching happens around week six. I observe every puppy from birth: the one who follows everywhere, the one who explores alone, the one nothing rattles. That's what determines which puppy goes to which family — never the colour picked from a photo.

A $500 deposit confirms your spot, applied to the full price. Refundable if the litter doesn't produce the right puppy for you.

Frequently asked questions

What I'm asked the most.

Never like a conventional dog — its larynx doesn't allow it. It can growl, whine, or let out its famous "baroo," a distinctive yodel. That's a big selling point in a condo, but it isn't a quiet dog by any means: it just communicates differently.

Rarely. The basenji is intelligent, independent and stubborn — it negotiates more than it obeys. I recommend it mostly to families already comfortable with dogs, ready to invest in training from the very first weeks.

No, and that's deliberate. Matching is based on temperament observed over six weeks, not on coat colour. I introduce you to the puppy or puppies who suit your household, and you decide from there.

First round of vaccines, complete deworming, microchip registered in your name, veterinary exam in the days before departure, an illustrated booklet, registration papers, and a blanket carrying the scent of the litter.

Unlike most breeds, the female basenji comes into heat only once a year, in the fall — which structurally limits how many litters are possible. Expect a wait of six to twelve months depending on timing.

They come back to me, at any age, without judgment. It's written into the contract. A dog I brought into the world never ends up in a shelter or a classified ad.

None of these puppies right for you yet?

Join the waiting list. I notify registered families as soon as a mating is confirmed — often three months before birth.
